What we're studying:
We are studying engineering through simple machines. We are also learning how to work together through skills like
collaboration, communication, critical thinking, creativity and never giving up. We have also learned about careers that we would like to learn more about like engineering, construction, design, mechanical, and health.

Our Team Leader's favorite quote:
If you believe it...You can Achieve it! (from Landi Saballos)

Why we think we should win:
We think we should win because we work hard and built a great team. We also worked on our project after school during minimum days instead of going home and eating Takis and watching TV. Even though some of us were afraid to use tools we have never used, we all were brave and learned to use at least one of the tools. We would be so happy to win, but we already feel like winners, because we met new friends, strategies. We had a lot of goofy fun moments and that is something that is really important to us. It is our first time, and we may be elementary but we are Stronger and Smarter than some may think.

Suggestion for next year's challenge:
For next year, maybe we can have a cup of water that cannot be spilled during the movements.
We could have to move something like a pencil to another place without it falling.
We would like for 6th graders who are at elementary schools to have their own groups instead of having to compete against middle schools.

Favorite Rube Goldberg video:

Our Healing Machine is designed to show a path of healing for San Bernardino through our Bing Wong Elementary iCare Lab. We used different materials like wood, plastic, golf balls, recycled materials, and building tools. We used different simple machines to move our object and then activate another action.

Our Step List

1: We met each other, and we did some activities to learn how to collaborate in a fun way.
2: We talked about the challenge, and decided on our theme: iCare Lab Healing San Bernardino.
3: We made sketches and we shared in our teams to discuss what they did and we practiced building.
4. We assigned roles for our team members.
5. We got training on tools from teachers.
6.We started small building and adding machines as we went.
7. We tested what we built.
8. We modified if we needed or had a bigger idea.
9.We practiced 5 times or more in a row to make sure it worked.
10.We helped the other team, the younger team with their project when we could.
11. We had snacks and fun.
