What we're studying:
We are studying simple machines, chain reactions, energy transformation, and kinetic and potential energy.

Our Team Leader's favorite quote:
"It's trial and error!"

Why we think we should win:
We think we should win the Rube Goldberg competition because our team put our hearts into our machine. We didn't want to focus only on the chain reactions, instead we tried to tell a story about our favorite pup, Otis! We used teamwork, collaboration, trial and error, and most importantly our creativity and fun during each of our Rube Goldberg work sessions.

Suggestion for next year's challenge:
Our suggestions for next year include opening a book and squeezing glue onto a piece of paper.

Favorite Rube Goldberg video:

Our machine is called Otis' Ruff Day. We have included inclined planes, a pulley-type system, and levers in our creation. We chose our theme based on our school mascot, Otis the Bulldog. We also included our school's motto, "Dream It! Believe It! Achieve It!" because we believe that represents exactly what we've done during our Rube Goldberg work sessions.

Our Step List

1. Otis's car is released down the ramp.
2. The car runs into a cylinder container causing it to fall onto the lever below.
3. When the cylinder container comes in contact with the lever, the lever goes down causing the ball to fall into the funnel.
4. The ball runs through the pipe running into the double decker car.
5. The double decker car is launched through the spinning wheels straight into a shoe box lid standing up right.
6. The car causes the shoe box lid to fall back releasing the string.
7. When the string releases, it allows the stuffed dog to slide down the inclined plane as it soars through the air.
8. The stuffed dog hits the ball.
9. The ball starts rolling down the table.
10 The ball hits the wooden dowel causing it to start rolling down the table and landing on a cardboard box.
11. The wooden dowel continues rolling down the cardboard box and runs into a row of books.
12. The books knock into each other down hitting a stick which is holding up a chair.
13. When the chair falls, it falls into the next chair causing it to fall as well.
14. The second chair lands on the clear blue funnel causing a vibration.
15. The vibration causes the coin to fall down the incline plane into the "Bulldog" piggy bank.
