    What we're studying:
    We are studying force and motion. The reason we have created a rube goldberg was to help us learn about transfers of energy.

    Our Step List

    Step One: The kid hits the toy car on top of a table carrying a cup with a ball in it with a yellow pole.

    Step Two: The car hits a barrier (a domino lying down), which causes the cup to tip over.

    Step Three: The ball inside the cup rolls out, hits the first domino and sets off a chain of dominos that get progressively wider.

    Step Four: The last chain of dominoes that collapse hit a book, in which sets off a chain of books getting progressively larger, much like dominoes.

    Step 5: The largest book collapses onto a "table" made of three books with a water bottle on top, causing the book table to collapse along with it.

    Step 6: The bottle on top of the book table is tied to a rope. The rope is draped over a pole secured by two chairs with a cup consisting of two bouncy balls at the end. As the three books fall, the bottle full of water drops as well. The rope is used as a pulley system, lifting up the base of the cup as the bottle drops.

    Step 7: The bouncy balls in the cup fall out and rolls down a half pipe.

    Step 8: The balls roll to hit a weight that falls off the edge of the table.

    Step 9: The weight is tied to a rope that is tied to a domino on the other side. As the weight falls off the table, it causes the tied domino to collapse, hitting a chain of dominoes leading up to a small toy car.

    Step 10: The small toy car is tied by a piece of yarn to a popsicle stick. When the last domino hits the car, the car will ride off, making the popsicle stick fall.

    Step 11: A marble that was once being held back by the popsicle stick is now released, goes down a funnel and eventually another half pipe.

    Step 12: The marble rolls into a cup filled with three other marbles.

    Step 13: The cup is connected to a rod at one end, the other end blocking a pre-started up car. There is a weight taped under the rod in the middle, that acts as a fulcrum. When the marble rolls into the cup, the cup's side of the rod dips down, lifting up the other side of the rod that is holding back the car.

    Step 14: The car moves forward, hitting a weight tied to a rope at one end, the other end of a rope connected to a jacket zipper placed upside down.

    Step 15: The weight falls of the table, tugging the rope tied to the zipper down, causing the jacket zipper to zip.
