What we're studying:
We are a multi-grade group, so currently we are studying Chemistry, Physics, and varying levels of math. One of the team participants gave an informative speech for their speech class about the life of Rube Goldberg. They invited the class to EOH to come learn more about the Rube Goldberg machines.

Our Team Leader's favorite quote:
"I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful one hundred percent!" - from Dr. Seuss' "Horton Hatches an Egg". Our team leader Michael really likes this quote because it exemplifies Horton's honesty, dedication, and perseverance.

Why we think we should win:
Because of our funny skit, clear theme and good use of household objects, we think our machine exemplifies the spirit of Rube Goldberg's cartoons.

Suggestion for next year's challenge:
Nothing involving food! :)
Put a cap on a marker
Have scissors cut paper

Favorite Rube Goldberg video:

Like our team name, our machine is titled, "The Cats in the Hat". Come and see the visual tale of Dr. Seuss' latest book idea. His artwork has been burned in a fire and it is up to Dr. Seuss and his team of misfit editors to figure out a new story to create. Should it have an elephant hatching an egg? Should there be flying fish? Should there be a Thneed factory? And it definitely should end with the capture of Thing 1 and Thing 2. See all of these ideas played out right before your ideas when you come visit the "Cats in the Hat".
