    What we're studying:
    First we learned about the six simple machines: the lever, the wheel and axle, the inclined plane, the wedge, the pulley, and the screw. Once we were comfortable with those machines we began to make more complex machines. Then, as a team, we started to brainstorm ideas for this years online competition.

    Our Team Leader's favorite quote:

    Why we think we should win:
    We used every simple machine - the lever, the wedge, the inclined plane, the wheel and the pulley. And we used screws to put it together!

    Our Step List

    Step 1. Mousetrap is triggered and pulls down brick
    Step 2. Brick falls and pulls down lever
    Step 3. Lever pulls off mousetrap obstructing pulley wheel on zipline
    Step 4. Pulley wheel travels down zipline carrying a ball that hits hit a baseball at top of inclined plane
    Step 5. Baseball rolls down incline planes and sets off the newton’s cradle
    Step 6. Newton's cradle hits baseball #2
    Step 7. Baseball #2 falls into bucket #1 and pulls down one end of two buckets on a pulley system
    Step 8. Pulley lifts bucket#2 which pulls a string which lifts a lever made out of a Jenga piece
    Step 9. Lever releases a marble which rolls down a ramp made of hand-painted dominoes, paper cups, and popsicle sticks elevated by soup cans
    Step 10. The marble hits the first in a series of dominoes of escalating size made out of computer cases
    Step 11. The last and biggest computer case domino falls onto one end of a class 2 lever forming the lid of a student-made hand-painted box
    Step 12. The lid lifts and releases a helium balloon, which is tied with other balloons to an eye screw in a brick
    Step 13. The balloons pull the brick off a table
    Step 14. A string attached to the brick pulls a pair of scissors closed
    Step 15. The scissors cut a ribbon holding a student-made four-wheeled vehicle named Mustafa
    Step 16. Mustafa rolls down a ramp hitting a rod fixed with a guide on two parallel rails which pushes forward an eraser which erases a chalkboard made by students with plywood and chalkboard paint attached to a computer case
