On a beautiful sun-shining February morning, Mr. Leduc's ECE physics class decided to take a field trip to the beach. We swam in the ice cold water and played beach volleyball very competitively. After some time we decided to open an umbrella to shade us from the not so scorching February sun. What better way to do it then build a simple machine?

We climbed to the highest rocky peak that overlooked the entire beach. With washed up wood and sticks we tied masts together forming a declining zig zag pattern. Adjacent to this is a water-slide tube, that Jailene tumbled down passing some sand dunes and a old ocean side playground.
Her quick movement made a breeze so strong her waft of air started a pinwheel . Kevin saw it turning and launched down the water slide bumping into Sarah. Sarah went down the other slide right through a pyramid of cups. Angie slid down a spiral slide hitting a coconut that pushed the umbrella's button causing it to open. We all cheered happy that our machine worked, and decide to grab a couple of drinks to enjoy the shade after the long day.

Our Step List

1. Wooden ball released down the metal track, then it goes through the clear tube and momentum hits to release the wooden ball
2. Wooden ball goes through the track and activates the slide which the marble rolls down
3. Marble gets off slide to hit dominoes starting a chain reaction
4. The last domino has a string attached to it and it triggers the ball that's being held back to roll
5. Baseball hits the bottom brick
6. Brick hits other bricks to hit the other set of dominoes
7. Dominoes hit a wiffle ball down a slide, and then triggers another set of dominoes
8. Dominoes hit marble down a slide and loop
9. Marble hits a set of dominoes which triggers the mouse trap
10. Bottom cup is connected to mouse trap when trigger cause cups collapse
11. String connected to cup pulls on Popsicle stick holding marble back
12. Marble is dropped from the top of a triple helix foam roller coaster and over a small lego hill*
13. Marble knocks into ping pong ball pushing it through the tunnel
14. Ping pong ball knocks over row of dominoes
15. Dominoes set of mouse trap
16. Mouse trap yanks string releasing marble at the top of the second looping roller coaster
17. Marble rolls down looped roller coaster and drops at the peak
18. Marble lands in aligned tracks pulls the string holding the Popsicle stick and ends up in cups
19. Triggers mouse trap that releases pool ball
20. Pool ball rolls down the track hitting the marble attached to the umbrella springing the umbrella open
