What we're studying:
We are studying the effects of momentum, change in kinetic energy and forces.

Why we think we should win:
We should win because our machine is very creative and inventive. Also we worked day and night to complete this task. None of us are engineering students and this was created amateurs.

Suggestion for next year's challenge:

Favorite Rube Goldberg video:
Our Machine is a twenty-six step machine that uses 75% household items. Its main stationary aspects are made of wood. It fully completes the task of opening an umbrella and creates two chain reactions in opposite directions that meet in the middle.

Our Step List

1. The Windup car rolls and sets off the spool
2. The spool rolls down a track and knocks down the books
3. The last book falls releasing a support rod holding up a ledge
4. The ledge falls creating a decreasing slope that the pool ball rolls down
5. The pool ball then hits the jenga blocks
6. And then rolls to hit the soccer ball which rolls off the ledge
7. The jenga blocks that the pool ball hit cause the golf ball to move
8. The golf ball then rolls down a track to hit the button on the umbrella
9. The umbrella then opens hitting the CD
10. The last CD’s then falls hitting the jenga blocks
11. Simultaneously the soccer ball falls, while falling the ball lifts the block that is tied to the soccer ball connected by a string
12. The block then changes the slope of the track, releasing the marble
13. The marble rolls down the track hitting the jenga blocks
14. The pool ball and marble then cause the jenga blocks to fall which then hits the toy car
15. The toy car then rolls down the track hitting the golf ball
16. The golf ball then rolls to hit the soda can
17. The soda cans movement then causes a chain reaction dropping the dominos
18. The dominos then cause the jenga blocks to fall tipping the ruler over
19. The ruler falling then releases the ball connected to the string
20. The ball then spins hitting the wooden block
21. The wooden block then falls hitting the dominos
22.The two domino paths connect then the the last domino's cause the golf ball to move
23.The movement of the golf ball causes the jenga blocks to fall
24.Simultaneously the umbrella hits the CD’s causing the CD’s to fall
25.The last CD falling causes the jenga blocks to fall
26.The jenga blocks fall from both sides, meeting in the middle
