What we're studying:
We have enjoyed working on our engineering and our creative writing skills. We chose to do the Disney theme, because we all enjoy the movies from Disney. Many of us have never been to Disney. Once a month we do a Stem project with our principal, but Rube Goldberg allowed us to go to a whole new level. Our science teacher will have us build Rube Goldberg projects in the spring, but does not entail the amount of steps and creativity. We did find thorough this process that some of us are better at building and others are the creative side. Our Team Leader's favorite quote:
Mistakes are proof that you are trying. Why we think we should win:
This is new to us except when we saw some of the projects from last year's sixth grade Rube Goldberg Science Fair. We were challenged to build a machine that is functional and creative. It was exciting to see the parts come together. We have spent hours working on making it perfect. We were determined to create a working project. We found that we had to try and try again to get things to work smoothly. We persevered and did not let the failures define us. This was fun and we hope to win. Suggestion for next year's challenge:
Turn a key in a lock,
staple a paper
close a door
shoot a rubber band
clean up a spill
squeeze a sponge
use a brush to paint
Favorite Rube Goldberg video:
The machine will take you on a journey through the Disney movies. It will provide exciting intervals as you travel through the thrilling films. Watch and listen as you go on this magical adventure which ends in Aladdin's lamp.
