What we're studying:
In our Rube Goldberg Club we are studying and gaining a better understanding of the physics of friction, potential energy, tension, kinetic energy, drag force, resistance force, interference of gravity, strength of gravity, and simple machines. We are expanding our creative boundaries by learning how to figure out how two items interact by trying a large variety of connections and interactions. We, as a group of students, are learning important building techniques so when we get older, we can apply this to our lives. The Rube Goldberg club is a special place to us and to keep it special, we work as hard as possible.

Our Team Leader's favorite quote:
They're magically delicious!

Why we think we should win:
We persevere in our work, enjoy working as a team and we love this club. We worked hard and had fun in the process. Our machine is cognitive work! We work to win, but winning is only a thing of the present. Friendship and fun were highly developed and cooperation is more important than winning, though we developed these skills in the thought of victory.

Suggestion for next year's challenge:
Squeezing a tube of toothpaste onto a toothbrush

The "Lucky" Charming Construction- A Goldbears Gadget

Lucky travels through time and races to retrieve his Charms.

The forest rustles as a leprechaun pops out from a bush, panting. He turns around seeing the form of a kid disappear in front of him, a pot in hand. “Wait!” he shouts. The children don't even look back. This is low, especially since they have never managed to steal the lucky charms for this long. He looks around, realizing he knows this clearing. He heads west, down a hill, smiling as he sees the magic hourglass going into the underground cavern. He knew that if he was correct, it would enable him to catch up to them and take the charms back.

His body warps as he dissolves into particles and travels through the time stream to the moment when those pesky kids were dashing away from his house. “Wait!” he cries, jumping off a branch while conjuring a car beneath him. He lands on top of the car, and drives it after them around the dead tree, only to be stopped by an old log that has been attached to the slide down from his balcony. The bowling ball he left on the balcony when playing ninepins rolled down the slide and crashed into a bunch of trees, making them fall over.

“Drat!” he exclaimed. He leans up against the dead tree, unintentionally making it come back to life. He wonders what to do now that his car has crashed. He sees the shooting star, remembering that it allows him to fly, and rushes over to it. Unfortunately, the trees the bowling ball hit continue to tip over, turning the colors of the rainbow as they touch each other, being exposed to so much magic. The trees land on the stump where he was keeping the horseshoe inside, just as the last one begins to roll at him. He lets go of the shooting star that he just grabbed, right before the rolling tree smashes into him.

Dazed but still alive, he sees the shooting star go up to the blue moon, releasing the hordes of stuff he had stored up there. It rolled down, finally triggering the deactivation sequence for the emergency hiding rigging he had set up for the pot of gold. It came off the rainbow charm, enabling it to expand to its full size. Lucky groaned. This was causing more trouble than it was worth.

The pot of gold landed on the boy in the back. Lucky cheered. Finally! He got one down. But he spoke too soon. A contraption sped out of his pocket and popped the red balloon, continuing onto the box that they had put the lucky charms in. It poured out into a bowl, which the kids sat down at and ate while Lucky stared at in disbelief.
