What we're studying:
We're studying the effects of physics on various children's toys and playthings to demonstrate how we can use things that may just be lying around our attics, basements, and garages to perform tasks. This will teach us to be resourceful and will develop our critical thinking skills for later in life.

Our Team Leader's favorite quote:
"Once you've started, you're halfway there."

Why we think we should win:
We think we should win because we have not only spent many hours putting the machine together, but, as a team, we have also tried to be as creative and resourceful as possible when creating our umbrella-opening mechanism.

Suggestion for next year's challenge:
For next year, we suggest that the task could be taking a picture with a camera.

Our machine is built like the house from the Mary Poppins movie. It has 4 levels, the basement, the first floor, second floor, and the roof/attic. The second floor is based off of the kids room in the movie, the first floor is based off of the sidewalk chalk scene, the basement is based off of the chimney sweep, and the roof is based off of the first scene when Mary Poppins is flying in.

1. The air cannon
2. Triggers the dominoes
3. Triggers the block
4. Releases string that opens trap door
5. Doll falls on to the lever
6. Lever lifts up ruler that releases tape measure
7. Tap measure knocks over block
8. That makes the car track fall
9. Car moves down track
10. Car hits army men
11. Fall on mousetrap
12. Mousetrap pulls weight down
13. Triggers the weight up the stairs
14. Straightens picture frame
15. Hits marble at the top of the blocks
16. Marble runs down track and tube
17. Marble hits button and turns on rotating duck pond
18. Duck pond rotates turtle
19. Turtle pulls string, which pulls a frame.
20. Frame rotates, which opens a gate
21. Ball rolls out of gate and hits a tower of cows.
22. Cow tower falls, which rotates a second frame.
23. Second frame knocks over toy car
24. Toy car runs down tracks and hits a PVC pipe from under a hammer
25. Hammer falls on a wooden board.
26. Cup falls off wooden board and hits books
27. Books hit bouncy ball
28. Bouncy ball rolls down ramp and knocks down blocks
29. Teeter-totter shifts weight and falls on scissors and cuts the string
30. String releases the umbrella
