What we're studying:
We have been learning about waves (sound and light) in science and designing and building gliders as part of our Flight and Space unit.

Why we think we should win:
We have put our full effort into this competition and have worked to make it innovative and creative. We worked as a team and listened to each other's ideas and we completed it all the hard way with hand saws and other hand tools.

Suggestion for next year's challenge:
We think you should have a machine that puts a stamp on an envelope or something else old school ;)

Favorite Rube Goldberg video:

This is a complex, restaurant kitchen themed machine. The machine is made of everyday items, that you would find in your own home. Most of the machine is made of wood and is painted black. It is filled with a lot of personality and most of the energy transfers are, made by circular objects. You can think of it as a mechanical kitchen that will put money in your bank.

Our Step List

Fk’s Fire Grill
1. Pushes bike pedal, pulls dowel down, that lets water bottle roll
2The water bottle will hit a piece of wood
3. The energy of the piece of wood falling transferred to a string that pulls another piece of wood. Starting the Newton's cradle.
4. The energy will transfer through all the balls of the Newton's cradle and knocks over a Siracha bottle
5. The Siracha bottle knocks over pulling a piece of wood, letting the car roll down.
6. The car will roll down and then hit a weight
7. The weight pulls a string down that raises a plastic spatula
8. The act of the spatula pulling up will let the ball roll over the grill.
9. The ball will roll down the grill and hit the dominos
10 The dominos will hit another ball that will drop down under the grill and hit a flap
11. The flap goes down to the other side and hits a ball that is held in place by a piece of cardboard.
12. Both balls roll down and hit a pipe that is holding a dowel in place
13. That causes the dowel to move out of its ridge and swing, releasing the blocked coin into the piggy bank
